10 zero waste snacks

 

These next options have three things in common:

  1. Convenience – Nothing complicated!
  2. Substance – These are unprocessed! 
  3. Trash Free – You might have to recycle, but you won’t toss a thing!

1. Smoothies and Juices

Use the fruits and vegetables you already have to make a super healthy and sustainable snack that will not only taste delicious, but give you some energy too!

2. Stovetop Popcorn

A few years ago I tried making stovetop popcorn for the first time. It was actually so much more fun to see it pop and I definitely recommend this fun and sustainable snack!

3. Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

One of the great treats of Halloween! This golden and crunchy snack tastes so good and is super easy to make. It is also a great way to get protein if you are a vegetarian or vegan!

4. Granola

Or just snack on granola itself. Top it with fruit and yogurt if desired. There are so many possible combinations of this!

5. Soft Pretzels

I first made these crusty-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside pretzels a few years ago and I have been in love with them ever since! A great activity to do with a younger sibling too! 

6. Roasted Chickpeas

Addictive? Yes. Healthy? Also yes. Yum!

7. Whole Wheat Salted Crackers

This is a great snack on-the-go! Super simple and can go with almost anything!

8. Trail Mix

You can also find an assortment of yummy trail mix in the bulk aisle. Nut mixes, nuts with chocolate pieces, nuts with dried fruit, so many possibilities. Or buy a few different nuts and seeds and make your own!

9. Fresh Fruit

This is a super easy, healthy, and convenient! AND its zero waste? Perfect!

10. Raw Vegtables

Kind of like the fresh fruit, eating vegetables from a garden or straight from your local grocery store is sustainable and healthy! 


These simple healthy snacks will satisfy even picky eaters. Fill your stomach, not garbage bags!
